Korean Peninsula tensions
The Korean War ended in a 1953 armistice, not a peace treaty. North Korea keeps expanding its nuclear and missile programs and has sent troops to fight for Russia. There is no fighting on the peninsula itself; tension shows in missile tests and drills. South Korea's 2026 offer of sanctions relief for a nuclear freeze has gone unanswered.
