Haiti armed gang violence
Armed gangs, many in the Viv Ansanm coalition, control most of Port-au-Prince and key roads. Police, the army and a UN-authorized Gang Suppression Force that began arriving in April 2026 are fighting them, and self-defence groups are also involved. Prime Minister Fils-Aimé governs alone, with elections planned for December 2026.
